It’s one of my favorite Cornell traditions. For those who don’t know – the 1st year architecture students build a large Dragon and parade it through campus surrounded by architecture students in all sorts of crazy outfits (my favorite this year was a faun who I later found out was arrested, go figure) with the engineers attempting to stop it with a Phoenix before it all ends on the Art Quad with the 5th year architecture students lighting the Dragon into a large bonfire – except this year, thanks to changes in NY open fire law, the Dragon couldn’t be burned. So sad. They did light a bonfire but it wasn’t the same without the dragon going up in flames.
